Short introduction

Quavious Keyate Marshall (born April 2, 1991 in Athens, Georgia, USA) is an American rap artist. Quavo was born into a very normal family in Athens, USA. His mother raised him alongside his cousin Chiari, who is now also a rap artist and goes by the alias Offset, and his grandson, Quavo’s nephew Kirshnik, better known as Takeoff.

early life

Quavo attended Berkmar High School in Lilbourne, Georgia, where he played as a point guard on their American football team. In seventh grade, Marshall begins exploring hip-hop, including writing his own music, alongside his cousin and nephew. In order to make a career in the music industry, they interrupt their schooling and leave high school. They create a kind of trio that starts writing music and lyrics. They become very popular in their circles, performing in local clubs, restaurants and small music festivals organized by local DJs.

Marshall received the MVP award during the 2018 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game after a 19-point performance and a win. In 2019, Marshall played on the “Away” roster during the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game at Bojangles’ Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Career

Quavo formed the rap group Migos in 2009 along with Takeoff and Offset. In 2011 he released the first mixtape called Juug Season. Another mixtape called No Label followed the next year. Nevertheless, his group only became known in 2013 with their breakthrough song “Versace”, which managed to take the first places in the charts. This was followed by other works that finally made the trio famous. After a slight delay due to disagreements over substance abuse, their debut album was finally released in July 2015.

Quavo recorded a collaborative mixtape with American rapper Young Tag in 2016 called MigoThuggin. He also released another mixtape, Young Rich Niggas 2, on January 18, 2017. His second album Culture was released on January 27, 2017 and received positive reviews from music magazines. He ranks number one on several Billboard charts: Billboard 200, Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, Canadian Albums Chart. In October 2018, Quavo released a solo album Quavo Huncho.

Almost nothing is known about the private life of the rap artist, except for cases of his prosecution in connection with the consumption of narcotics. Quavo has one daughter, Louise Morley Cochrane.

Migos rose to prominence in 2013 after the release of their single “Versace”. The song was remixed by Canadian rapper Drake and peaked at #99 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and #31 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Quavo had his first lead single as a solo artist with the song “Champions,” which featured several other artists. The song peaked at number 71 on the Billboard Hot 100. Following the success of Migos’ second studio album Culture, which peaked at number 1 on the US Billboard 200 chart, Quavo was later featured on several popular songs including “Congratulations”, “I’ m the One”, “Portland” and “Strip That Down”.

In an interview with GQ, Houston-based rapper Travis Scott, who Quavo previously worked with on the Young Thug collaboration “Pick Up the Phone,” revealed that he had a collaboration album with Quavo in the works. In April 2017, Quavo starred in The Fast and the Furious: Go Off video clip with Lil Uzi Vert and Travis Scott.

The song was eventually certified Gold by the RIAA. Quavo also released “Ice Tray” featuring Lil Yachty on December 14, 2017. The song peaked at number 74 on the Billboard Hot 100. On December 21, 2017, Quavo announced that he would be releasing Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho with Travis. His album had eight songs that debuted on the Billboard Hot 100. On May 18, 2019, Quavo performed “Future” alongside Madonna at the grand finale of the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest.
